Uganda Aid
We are currently organizing efforts to help fund some basic needs for the people in Uganda. Our host, Becky Turner recently went to Uganda to help with the efforts of working with the kids and families in Uganda and we have joined the cause here at Going on Daily. Listed below are all the things we are trying to help with. So you can donate any amount toward the cause you want to assist with. Any amount helps!!

Opok Village School Roof Fund ($4,000)
The school base is built but due to extreme heat in Uganda, the school is not functional without a roof. There is no school within walking distance of this village. In many cases, children are walking 10-15km (6-9mi) each way to go to school, leaving them susceptible to harm from witch doctors, wildlife, violence, heat, etc. In Opok, the schools close by are just too far for children to walk to safely. A building was started but the village has no more funds to finish the school to make it functional. The money collected will be put directly toward a sheet metal roof.

Gira Gira Village Grieving Families Fund:
In February, two 4 year olds were kidnapped from their village, badly beaten and sacrificed in a ritual by a witch doctor. Their little bodies were found burnt but the causes of death were much more heinous. The parents and families are unable to work to make money because of how traumatized they are. The money collected will go directly to both families for psychological care and to help them survive during this time. Any left over funds will be given to this village to put walls on their school structure.

Sponsor A Child To Go To School Fund:
School in Uganda is not free and most children never end up going. Many of the kids who do go will be in boarding school because the families cannot afford to house them at their own homes. School fees with boarding can range from $500-1000/year/child which is impossible for parents who make much less than $100 per month. The money collected will be given directly to kids in need of an education.

Medical Care Fund:
In Uganda, medical treatment can be affordable for some but it can also be extremely expensive. Every case is different. For people struggling to make ends meet, medical care usually gets cut from their priority items. Many people (especially children) die from malaria, sickle cell anemia, HIV, respiratory infections, and contaminated water because they cannot afford the medicine to treat the illness. The money collected will be used to help pay for emergency medications.
